7 Yards with a 1911 and SAECO 230 Grain Round Nose

I shot this off hand. I'm a little embarrassed seeing I shot better when I was younger.
I did find I need to seat the bullets deeper which I quickly fixed.

It was Clays. I'll have to check the load but I believe it was 4 grains. Let me double check though.

Thats my favorite load for the 1911. I have not tried 231, but I will if I ever see any.....

    Nice shooting by the way....

Would comprehensively solve any serious social disagreement. That is
the purpose of the 1911, so it fulfills the purpose just fine.

    Nice shooting Duke!

Yep, clays and w231 burning characteristics are very similar, and almost identical for my pistol loads. I like it a little hotter at 4.5gr but it's still pretty danged mild.

Thanks for the compliments guys but I left the range feeling like half the man I used to be. I shot this rapid fire and it seems my vision has gone to pot.

Don't beat yourself up Duke. We are all destined to get older. Doesn't mean you have to be OLD. Good shootin.

Hodgdon data page shows that the Max load using clays, for a 230 LRN .4gr. that is for a .452 bullet.

"my vision has gone to pot" - - - sorry to say, but that is not a very
exclusive club. Welcome to the club. I was winning 300 yd matches
with open sights last year, and not sure I will even compete next year
unless I can find some new glasses that work better. Another one of
the crummy things about getting old.
