    Savage stock for Axis

Just recieved an e-mail from Boyd's Gunstocks. They have stocks for the Savage Axis line now. I am sure that they are much better than the plastic stocks that come on the Axis.

Provided they fit right without having to work on them first ..... but even then I'm sure the wood or laminate is much more solid . Do you know if they have it on the website yet ?

I was looking at Boyd's site the other night thinking about picking up a Savage Axis for a .300blk re-barrel. They did show stocks for the Axis line on the website.

I called them up the other day , apparently no left hand stocks are in the pipeline . The sales person did not know if there ever would be . So you lefties just continue to use the factory noodle stock untill someone else wants some stock business .

I have one of the Featherweight Thumbhole stocks on order. I sure hope that it's as easy as "just drop it in", but I don't have a lot of hope with the goofy magazine well system that Savage used on these rifles. I'm not too concerned about the trigger guard assembly, but that magazine lock up will take some machining to set up right. First one to receive one of the stocks should post back with pictures of the installation. I will if it's me, but it sounds like I'll be down the list a ways.

    .

My Son won a new short-action Axis with a plastic/fantastic camo stock @ a game dinner raffle last Spring, and is interested in a wood stock.

Thanks for posting - Although Boyd's lists both long/short action stocks as "Out-Of-Stock" right now, I'll pass this on to him.

I just got a message that the shipping label for my stock has been printed, maybe that means it won't be too long before I can get my greedy little paws on it! Has anybody gotten one yet?

Put mine on today. Fits great except the bolt release needs more clearance.

Pictures, please! What does it look like needs to be done for the bolt release? Does the mag fit well and securely? Inquiring minds want to know! UPS says that mine will be here Wednesday.

You might try Richards Microfit Stocks, inc. (http://www.rifle-stocks.com). They make some really nice looking stocks and the prices are reasonable IMO. They don't list the AXIS, but say to contact them if your gun is not listed. May be worth a try.
