The weather wasn't all that friendly this year, it went from sunny, to foggy, to snowing, and back to warm in about three days time.

Hey at least you got out and brung home some freezer meat! Good going!
I'm not sure I will make it to the woods this year, I spent all summer getting treated for that C word and I'm doing real good but recovery from radiation is slow. I have plenty enough deer in the freezer to get me to next year. Hah I was glad just to get my .44 finished and sighted in with cast boolits.
That is pretty normal Nebraska weather. I have hunted deer in 70 plus degree weather, sub zero weather, rain and wind, fog, and everywhere in between. One never knows what clothes to take so I take them all.
Last year it was 70 and windy Sat, 40 and rain with wind on sun, 30 and wind on Monday. Needless to say Sunday was miserable. I was soaked, guns as soaked, glasses were wet. I couldn't have shot if I even saw a deer.
Have fun, keep an eye on your Dad, he is getting old......

Congrats on the hunting and filling a few tags for all of you. Bigger than last year's bravo.
May you hands be warmed on a frosty day.
You guys are cool
Good to see a successful family outing
And good to see some pics of bucks, sometimes i think that all i see is pics of dead does. I guess certain states have a lot more deer than here in the NW. But heck, arent the antlers the main trophy? I mean, the main goal is the meat, but antlers are the keepsake. And they make good knife handles.
Season just re-opened here, and im realizing i didnt scout nearly enough. Cmon rut
Good shootin yall, and congrats
we have to put in the miles to find the bucks.
we generally put in about 6 miles [on foot] per deer we see.
and about 90 miles on the truck each day moving up and down the canyons.
quite often instead of packing through the hills from point A to point B we drive the canyon's and make circular walks up and down the draws/bowls.
we can generally get 3 maybe 4 such walks in, in a day.
it's usually after one of these walks we drive down the road and run into a buck.
