Marshall Reloading Heated base for Star or Magma sizers

Here are the plans to make your own heated base for a star or magma sizer. The plans are 1:1 on the base so you can use the plans as a template, just measure a couple dimensions to verify first. The nut piece for the ejection tooling can be made from all thread and a custom nut which can be easier to make than the piece on the drawing. If you are just making one the material will probably be simpler and easier for just machining it as one piece. A Uni bit can be used to debur the big tapped holes in the base quickly and easily, I usually debur first and then tap second. These holes also need to be tapped straight for the removal tooling to work.Click image for larger version.

Love the plans they look nice. I don't know if I will have the tools (taps) to build one of these any time soon, but it's nice of you to post them.

If I were to make a change would be that it just needs to be made a little wider to fit the bullet feeder (Just one more hole to drill and tap for that).

I've been told that a 6" wide base will be enough for the bullet feeder, but I don't know where the hole goes for it.

Like the drawing where did you get the heater element?

80 watt would probably be enough. Use a PID to control it.

You have to select the diameter you want and 2 inch long is enough. The plans show a 0.250" hole for the heater, so you would choose 1/4 inch diameter.
You could use a light dimmer switch to control it, but a PID would be better.

I have the original Star heated base plate but I can't see a drilled hole for a thermocouple. Where would you put it? And what kind of thermocouple would you use?
