Where to purchase some lead bullets for a 50/90 Sharps rifle

I am having a hard time in locating some dealers who sell 50 caliber lead bullets for my sharps rifle. I wanted to purchase a few to see how they perform in my gun before I purchase a casting mold. Montana bullet company does not answer their phone and I have not received an email back yet. They seem to have a lot of bullets to choose from but I am just about to give up on them. I am looking for a 500 to 600 grain bullet with a diameter of .510 and .511. I know Buffalo arms sell a few but our there any other companies sell theses type of lead bullets.

I used the BAco swaged PP bullets to find out what worked before having my mold made. They were very accurate and great to do buisness with. You could post a want to buy in swapping and sellingfor small quanities of test bullets in alloy and weight style you want to see what comes up.

Rick that's pretty good advice once a fella finds the diameter and bullet style that works in your rifle. But just hauling off and buying a mould, then finding out the rifle don't like that bullet and will heave the thing sideways thru a target, makes buying that block a pretty huge waste of 200$.

My post was primarily reference the fact that if he wants EXCELLENT BULLETS....he's gonna have to cast because there's been tons of responses from guys here and on other forums reference the fact that bought bullets are somewhat less than desirable!

there is enough information out there , that armed with a knowledge of your rifles bore , you should be able to purchase a mould that will function in your rifle , when you start into the 50s and 44s there just isnt a lot of stuff around and research is your best friend, If you start with a standard bullet for your twist rate ,you should be able to enjoy your rifle until you get to the point you need something more ,
I would like to see a mould maker make an adjustable mould for greasers , just as they make an adjustable mould for paper patch. this would solve a lot of newbie problems , Lyman used to make one like this , and I think it would be a beneficial addition to any makers catalogue,

Well I finally got an E mail back from Montana bullet Company. I was able to put in an order of .510 and .511 in a 600 Grain Saeco flat nose and another order of .510 and .511 in a 515 grain and one order of a .510 in a 550 grain. Let the shooting begin. I will be able to make an assessment on the best bullet that will perform. I just wanted to thank everyone for the positive info. I do ask a lot of questions before I jump in and purchase $ 180 mold.
