    My first Cast Cartridge

Finally got some cartridges loaded, been fighting these for 2 or 3 days. Boolits kept falling inside the cases.

These bigger cases sure act different in my Lee turret press than 5.56 does. Once I figured out what I was doing wrong it seemed like smooth sailing. These are the Lee 312 185 1R boolits with the Lee 1.3 dipper of IMR4227. Range report in the next few days I hope. Cant decide what to do today, need to go to laundry mat, Dove opened yesterday and new loads to try out. Decisions decisions

Got to the range after AA tonight. Decided it was only fitting to shoot my first cast loads through my first Mosin Nagant.

These loads were definatly lighter than the surplus stuff and my other loads with SMK's. I could hear the rounds smack the target at backstop. I don't think I will be getting a medal next year with these or this rifle at Camp Perry, but they shot at least as good as the surplus stuff. And I have a type 53 that shoots better plus an Ex Sniper 91/30 I have yet to try them in.
Tried a pic through my spotting scope, came out ok.

    All 4 targets together

Thanks for the pics. Nice little range you have there.

Loaded a 6 more (all the empty cases I had ready) with 19.5 grains, I like the results a little better I think, but shot those with one of my Type 53's. Gonna load some more and do a better test.

Family, kids, and getting a new hunter & shooter started comes first... you made the right decision there!

Looks like you are on, your way. Great pics especially the kid with the dove. This time of the year I'm to busy dove hunting to have time to cast, load or shoot my handguns.

Yep, clean shivvies or go shootin', Hmmm, that's a tough one.

You kept most of the shots in the orange and that's good combat rifle accuracy. You'll be able to tune up some loads to do better than that. Good shootin'..

Some of those shots were taken at the bulls at the 4 corners (failed to mention that previously) I figured I was getting 4-5 in groups on those first targets, didn't get pics from yesterday, only had 6 rounds loaded and fired them after the Highpower Match at the club. I will indicate POA and define groups better on the rounds I loaded this morning after 3-5 foot waves kept me from going perch fishing.

What wonderful days those were with the kids out after the little speed demons! I did enjoy a great opening day with the Remington 1100 .410 gauge that my son bought me several years ago. It is the dove buster supreme and brings back lots of memories of hunting with the kids.

Oh yeah, and to stay on topic, that's a ice looking Mosin-Nagant.
    Keep your powder dry,
