a question for the machinists on a Lee pro 1000

I have been wondering if anyone has ever tried to make the nylon indexing piece on the pro1000 carrier out of brass or aluminum? and if so what would it cost for one?

Now that you brought that up, I have the same flippin question on the RCBS 4x4 press. Let's face it those nylon index thingies are a PITA to change out and they will go out in time and you have to call RCBS to get replacements. Granted they're free but they only send four or so and even if you ask them to send more they don't....

I think I seen here that someone made one out of aluminum for their press, however I don't remember how it worked out.
One thing to remember is that the nylon indexing gear is designed to be the weak link to give out if something else gets out of alignment during the operation.
