Red face Range report on Ranch Dog 100gr .380

Well I finally got around to digging out the old PPK/S and Ranch Dogs (TL 358-100) boolit. It is a tumble lube design but I ran 'em through my Lyman 4500 and sized to .356 lubed with White Label Carnauba Red. Yeah, I know but MY Walther likes .356. Powder was Hogden's Universal at 3.2 grains. OAL was sized to match factory 380 rounds I had. Any hoo, took em out and at 10 yards did pretty well, for me. Ran about 75 rounds through the Walter without any problems feeding or firing. The photo below is after the first couple mags. All in all I'd say that ranch dog and Lee did a great job - these guys fall like rain from the mold and no 'leementing' or smoking done to it. Just wiped it out with acetone (on q-tips) and went at it. Third pour (pre-heated on hotplate) and I had all keepers.

Thanks for the report Buzz! Of course, I absolutely love the mold and shoot the bullet out of my Taurus TCP

Al at NOE will be cutting this design for both tumble lubing and with a standard lube groove.

I use that bullet unsized and tumble lubed out of a RD 6 cavity to load for a friends S&W 640 .38 special using 2.5 grs of Bullseye. Shoots pretty well at 7 yds with very mild recoil and like was said the bullets jump out of the cavities. A great combo for the novice shooter who just had to have a light weight snubnose as their first gun.

Talk to Lee. I think they're making them from the old RD designs. Mike

Contact NOE bullet Mold company - they took over the Ranch Dog line. Here is a link to their contact us page if you want to shoot them a question about when it will be available:

These bullets shoot really well, accuracy wise, in my S&W Bodyguard 380. Bullets drop from mold easily. My only problem is... Why are bullets dropping at .360? Using a soft alloy, 11BHN, so they should be smaller than the designed alloy of WW and some tin. Mold closing so well the bullets don't even show a seam. Is Lee that far off in manufacturing?

What are others getting in dropped size?

I've shot about 800 of these through my LCP. I don't size the bullets. I get very good accuracy (for that kind of gun) and absolutely no leading. I use 2.6gn Bullseye
