I got my first range session in with the new boolets yesterday, no chronograph data just sighting the rifles in and to try a couple of loads to see how they go, first up I tried the HP it weighs 151.0 grs
with gas check and lubed, loaded in my Rem 40X .308 with 8.0grs of Trail Boss for a subsonic load
took a few rounds to settle down
group on left is first serious group the second measures .612 edge to edge shot at 50 metres, second pic same load at 100 metres only had four left looks like it's going to be a keeper,
the other rifle is a SR K31 tried the solid in that with H4198 28.0-29.5grs not very good around 2" groups at 50 Metres next time will try 2400 it shoots the Lyman 311332 into one hole at 50 with 18.0grs,
Weather is turning to rubbish a few days before I can get out again.
Robert.
Anyone tried these in an semi auto yet?
If you think your a hammer everything looks like a nail.
it feeds just fine in my 300 blackout..
hope to shoot for groups this week .. barring rain and storms
my 2 hours of evening light kind of hurt the load development time

G'Day
Haven't shot them yey but I was teaching a new bloke to cast yesterday and thought I'd break in the mold. Well he was churning out the nicest looking hp's you'd ever see in his first go. I'm looking forward to using this more and more.

Loaded up a box of the new boolits with 34.0 grains of IMR-4895, just dumped the charges out of the RCBS Uniflow.
I stapled my target to a gum tree at the furthest distance I could shoot from the house (outside) which I had thought was about 160 yards. Its where the new treeline is after having a bunch of pines cleared last fall.
Rifle with that load was previously shot and rough sighted in at 50 yards.
The reason why I'm happy, even thought the group isn't super small, is that the rifle taken from the safe in an air conditioned house, loaded, and shot prone in the grass, and the first shot was in the same round group as the others.
Then I walked down to the target, figured a dope change for 175 yards, and went back with a warm rifle, and fired the second group, with 3 shots only.
After the group was not in the center of the bull, I thought that the scope might not be tracking exactly 1/4" per hundred. So just to make sure, I got my 100ft tape and actually measured the distance I was shooting. 421 feet, or one foot over 140 yards. Which is why the # of clicks I came up didn't make the group centered.
BTW, I didn't use dacron or other filler with this load. 34 grains fills up enough of the case that it doesn't show the position sensitivity that my earlier 4227 load did.
The gum tree is less than 6" in diameter, and only one of the boolits went through. Those hollow points must be putting the brakes on pretty hard.
The target was scaled up to fit the paper, so the boxes are a bit bigger than the 1" they're supposed to be.

Real nice shooting for laying in the grass!! Thanks for the data & keep up the good work.
I'm waiting on 30 cal gas checks so I can start working on some load recipes.

just shot another group of FN rounds to see if it was repeatable .. Not quite as good but plenty acceptable
i walked 400 yds pretty quickly and set down immediately to shoot.. probaby should have waited a couple of minutes
now time to chrono and do some fine tuning ..
so far I have not been able to get the HP boolits from the same mold to shoot as well but its early in the game anyway

I am surprised to hear that these feed into the AR-15 300 Blackout ok. I guess I will have to give it a try.
This country has gone to hell but now there is hope for us.
I have had zero feeding issues in my AR ..
make sure your upper receiver has M4 feed ramps to match the barrel .. I have seen many coming thru lately without ...this will lead to that exact issue..
that little extra ramp area in the receiver makes a world of difference..
I had to open up a CMMG barrel on back of the feed ramps so it would feed the 220 Rns as well ..

Smoke - sounds like that cheap equipment you have is working out. Got any pics of that set up. I have a CMT billet upper and lower that I have not got around to building yet. My budget may be lacking on this project
Keep in mind this is a 10" barrel SBR so it requires a $200.00 Fed tax Stamp (class 3) and another one for the suppressor
Makes a great all around weapon for both subsonic or sonic work
Quick release mount when I need iron sights for close work
MS3 Sling can be used 2 point or single point

Tomorrow morning is the opening day for firearms Deer season in S.C.----And I have to work! May have to work 6 or 7 days out of the next week, so my maiden voyage of the .308 Hunting boolit may have to wait. I haven't even had time to try it out on milk jugs.

Finally cast some up with this mold last night and today. This one is by far the easiest hollow point mold to cast with from Miha that I have. Now the recent batch of isotope lead I cast out of seems to have more than three percent antimony because I was ripping the bases of the bullets off because of the crystallization. I'm hoping I didn't miss any that we're damaged because I plan to load them this week.
I don't think its your isotope lead that is to blame. I have the same problem with regular WW alloy.
Shoot from a rest at 25/50/100 yards, then post your groupings. That is the only way to compare accuracy results.
