Why do so many flip out over the hazmat fee? Is there anywhere that does not charge it or build it into an increased product price other than picking them up locally?

Only place that don't charge are ones that build it into the price or sometimes they have promo. 25$ is only 50 cents a box. That's nothing, considering last year primers could be had for $14/k

UPS charges that fee to the shipper for each box containing any haz mat material..the shipper has no choice but to pass that charge along

PS the current haz mat fee is actually 27.50 per box so midsouth is still charging the old fee

I think the point is primers are beginning to appear. I am hearing from friends in various places that ammo is beginning to hit shelves, powder and primers are appearing on shelves, and prices are creeping toward normal. Last January, a member here posted results of a survey of major manufacturers. They predicted things would be tight for 6 to 9 months, and then open up. Well, it has been 7 and I suppose by September we may see more quantity and variety.

My shooting has been reduced somewhat during this time and my primer supply is less than optimal. What rounds I have fired have been de-primed, sized, and polished up ready to go. I have a good supply of alloy, and a good assortment of boolits cast up and either lubed or powder coated.

I've still got around 10k rounds loaded up in various calibers but I will be happier when everything is topped off again and my primer/powder storage is back to normal. Hearing that Tula primers are showing up is good news. It is kind of like seeing the first flowers of spring after a particularly harsh winter. Refreshing to say the least

Complain to UPS, vendors are just charging what they have to pay to ship hazardous materials.

It's all a part of the cost of the hobby. You can mitigate it with local group buys but the cost of gasoline for me to drive and buy primers is more than twice the cost to have them delivered to my door. Primers in my local area disappeared about five years ago when the sole vendor went out of business.

In the little town where my daughter lives about 120 miles south of me, primers were marked at $70 per 1,000 in 2007. The boxes were covered in dust ... I wonder why. He was the only seller there too; I haven't been back.

Wow where do you live? I guess there's a balance of city and rural life. I've thought about retiring into a more rural area. As long as ups and USPS can get to me I think I'll be good

UPS Now tacks on an extra fee for addresses that are far from the distribution point.. the further away you are the more the fee is

25.00 isn't that bad if you order 10,000 primers or more like I like to. Split a shipment with a friend, do the same with BP.

Same thing here. People gripe about the hazmat price, but hazmat has been charged for the last 8 years or so I have been ordering primers. It is not a new thing.

yeah if your ordering 1 box that's a lot to pay I buy 5-10k at a time so split that across and its not that much to pay
