All filled in and primered. Wet sanding was done between coats 7 times.
The selector lever and linkage were filled in with Marine Epoxy Putty.
The stock ferule was relieved to NM configuration.
Butt Plate was fit and glass bedded.
Seams were all filled in with Bondo.

Brass Tubing fitted to prevent stock collapsing and aid in secure tension on cheek rest adjustment knob

I'm going to need to paint the magazines now. Green sounds good.

    Hi Duke,
Nice work! The brass ferrels are a nice touch! I have a Polytech that was put together by Clint McKee at Fulton Armory. It has all GI parts, the only thing left on it Chi-Com is the forged receiver! I took a GI fiberglass stock and lengthened the stock as I am tall and put on a shotgun trap butt pad that feels really good on a rifle and helps with recoil.

I think I will not put a scope on it as it is just a battle rifle with battle rifle accuraccy but will go bang everytime you pull the trigger!

That's the nicest recoil pad job I have ever seen. Mine should be shorter by an 1-1/2" to accommodate plate carriers with SAPI's.

    Duke,
Very nicely done! You stated that you were wanting to paint the magazines green, but to me they look better the way they are because they match the rest of the metal work. That's just me though.

Come on now.....those are sooooo......like last century..........

Where's the pistol grip? The front grip with the cutsie pop out bipod? Where's the accessory rails top and bottom and both sides? Where's the accessories? Where's the 45 degree red dot sit for shooting sideways? Where's the adjustable for length 6 position butt stock? And look at that humongous long barrel.....where's the 16" one? How are you supposed to lug that heavy thing around....where's the aluminum and sheet metal? And wood! Who the heck uses wood anymore?

But yah know what? I love 'em.....nicely done

Those rifles are simply gorgeous. The grain on the one in post #3 is to die for.

Loved the rifle, packing it around, not so much. Never even saw an M-16 while I was in, they all went to Nam and the reputation there wasn't the best at the time. Lots of the guys wanted there 14s back.
My long time shooting buddy stocked one in curly maple and then proceeded to make Distinguished with it back in 93'. He said it always got comments at check-in.

    Makes them more rust resistant.
