    Primer hardness

With CCI # 34 and #41 being the hardest primers, how do the other 3 makes rate in hardness? Loads for semi-auto mil-spec rifles.

This is all changing, and I assume this is because of the dramatic increase demand by the military. About six months ago I contacted Federal and they said that all primer skins are being changed. To what, they did not say. They did say that the explosive part was going to be the same as before. The guy I talked to via email was not in the know, obviously. I did not make another attempt to find out. ... felix

    richbug, thank you.

felix, what you report has me curious. Did a search on 'primer hardness' before posting my question. Did see one reference that possibly the CCI and Federal primers might start using the same cups. Have not heard who bought who out-Blount or ATK, me thinks that maybe they are standardizing some of their products. Could also explain the shortage of CCI and Federal primers.
