    Compact "Kilo Kit"

Level B – “Kilo Kit” I've made changes to my kit since these pictures were taken.

Use this list as an "idea starter" to customize your own kit suitable for your AO and mission.

    Attachment 76369

"Click" on any photo to see it full size.

    Attachment 76372

    CMG Infinity Tasklite
4AA battery caddy (recently changed to Fenix E01 and 4AAA to save weight/space)
    P38 Opener
Frontier Survival Filter Straw (I added recently, not in photo)
    Waterbag (gallon ZipLok)
    MicropurTabs (am now using Betadyne)
    SnareWire
    Military SpeedHook (not in photo)
    NATO whistle
A REAL laminated glass Signal Mirror
    Compass
    GuardianSafetyLight
    tea candles (2)
3 birthday gag candles (the pyrotechnic kind which don't blow out)
BIC lighter (cable tie under tab to prevent accidental release of butane)
    DoanFireTool+striker
    Lifeboat Matches
    Tinder pack
Fresnel lens (in red Best Glide sleeve)
    Leatherman Squirt
    VictorinoxRecruit
    Pocket sharpening steel
    DermaSafeKnife
    DermaSafeSaw
    PhotonX-Light
    BestGlide WoundPack1
    BestGlide MedPack1
Pill fob with 3-day supply of personal meds
    QuikClotSport25
    Triangular bandage
    2 brass blacked bandolier pins
6 assorted cable ties (added recently, not in photo)
    20ft.550# paracord
    survival kit pouch
snap link to attach pouch to gear (added later, not pictured)

I am fairly satisfied with this, especially its compact size and weight, but it every time I have actually had to use it, I discover tweaks to be made! Biggest change was substituting a 1 oz. plastic first aid kit BOTTLE of betadyne, for the multiple foil ampules and swabs. Doing so saved enough space to include a Frontier filter straw! But because the filter straw is not adequate to remove all biologicals, chemical treatment remains necessary, so betadyne doubles for water purification as well as wound cleansing.

I dont trust small, vital, easily lost stuff to be outside of my pack(s) I use a daypack that's big enough to hold the taken down rifle, sitting on a buttpack, so I dont need more of a frame than a couple of carbon fiber 'stays" to get the weight onto my padded hipbelt. I carry the "spare" clothing, sleepgear and shelter outside of the pack, cause I WILL notice if any of it falls off, since it's all bundled together. There's no air mattress or stuffing filled stuff to get torn/punctured, so I can use much smaller packs, with the same carrying effect. Since there's 20 lbs of guns, ammo, accessories, armor, night vision, solar charger, etc, and I demand that I be able to RUN with my BOB, there's very little bulk/weight left for all the other gear. I doubt very much that you'll see any 3 day emergencies that dont also include risks from other people, dogs, etc, but you might be able to handle short term stuff with a pocket 9mm and a silenced .22lr pocket pistol. That would save you 9 lbs or so, as compared to the rifle setup.

100 x 6 ft of 2" mesh gillnet (minus the lead weights) and some muletape tree straps= a hammock that can feed you very handily. For a medical kit, give me "go" and "no-go" pills, antibiotics, stimulants, painkillers, sedatives, anti-inflammatory meds, crazy glue, an ACE bandage for the knee, liquid bandage, iodine, antifungal/bacterial ointment, eyemask and ear plugs (keep bugs out)
