    Ooop's, Water dropped my Mold

    NOE 312299
So there I am casting away making a pile of Boolits.
Go to water drop my Boolits from the mold and Oop's the right side of the mold drops in the water instead.
Very shallow water with a rag on the bottom.
The set screw backed out and I did not notice.
Boolits stay in the other half.
So there I am looking for something to grab it with as it is sizzling, I don't wear gloves.
Grab it with a pair of plyers (Gently) on the outer edges only.
However at that moment I'm thinking bummer this is going to be warped
Put it back together quickly and do a pour, after about 8 pours she is back up to temp and dropping Purty Boolits.
    Love that NOE Mold

Glad to hear that your mold wasn't damaged. Was it brass or aluminum ?

I'll never find my back to the site, but there was fellow talking once about dipping his whole mold filled with alloy in water and calling it water quenching. I'll bet he had quite a bit of variation in his bullets, and probably an occasional steam cavity when he filled the wet mold with alloy while it was still wet. I'd also bet his mold didn't last long.
