9.3X62CZ550 in hand; Now what weight to use in Pb?

Well after 1.5 excruciating years of trying to decide if trading my S&W Model 57 for a CZ550 was worth it; I finally walked into the LGS and 45 minutes later walked out with a CZ550 that says "American" on the receiver but has a "Bavarian" drop comb. It took 24 (10-Factory PrviP286 and 14 handloads w/50grns IMR4064 and the PrviP 286) rounds to get sighted in, on two visits to the local range (GMSC) 50 yards then 100 for final settings.
To say I am in love with an object may be against my faith, but I am sure close to it with this rifle. it is scary accurate; 1 inch at 100, 2 inches high of aiming point. All this with a 4X Ted williams I found in the dark recess of my loading room.

Now the real question. What weight boolit to use if I am going after cow elk in Colorado? Next week a friend and I will be ordering molds from LBT (Hang on Veral!).
I am thinking a LFN at 280 grains. They will be launched at ~1800FPS, using WC820 or AA5744 or 2400.
Anyone with this caliber and/or rifle in this caliber, shoot Pb regularly?

    Thanks

I shoot a 280 as that is the weight I use when shooting Woodleighs. Both Tom at Accurate Molds and NOE have molds. Noe ran a group buy I was involved in just for the 9.3x62 and he may have one in stock. Tom duplicated the mold for me in brass and has several styles listed at his site and will make most anything you want.

check the group buy results thread and find 9.3NOE results. Pictures and everything. Buckshot has .368 size dies for a reasonable price, and PatMarlin makes a handy 9.3 checkmaker set so you can make your own gas checks instead of having to force 375 checks to fit.

DJ/Blammer also sells 9.3 gator checks that work very well.

To say I am impressed with CZ rifles is an understatement, they are slowly taking over my gun cabinet from the 22 lr to the 416 rigby. All are "scary accurate" my first cast loads with the Rigby grouped within 4 inches open sights at 100 yds!

I have the CZ550 American in 9.3X62 and I like it. I have a lot of Speer 270 SSP and Prvi 286 SP, so that what I mostly use it with.
I also use the Lee 9mm Makarov mold (365-95-R) that I lapped to 0.368". With 10-12grns of Unique it is a great gallery load.

I've raved at length here about my CZ-550 (Lux) in 9.3 x 62, try a search and see what pops up.

I had Mountain Molds cut me a 270 grain version of a mould design that "Eirik" at accuratereloading.com developed. I tweaked the design to conform to my rifle's throating quirks, and I have been VERY happy with its work to date. Best load has been 23.0 grains of Alliant 2400, giving about 1800 FPS and 1"-1-1/4" 5-shot groups at 100 yards with boring repeatability. The 70% meplat does hang up while feeding on occasion--a smaller flat out front would be my only suggested modification.

One other noteworthy quirk this caliber has--using the Nosler 250 grain Ballistic Tips or CTs and the correct dose of IMR-4320, 2650 FPS at the muzzle is safely possible. The ballistic coefficient of the .366" Noslers and the 180 grain 30 caliber spitzers is almost identical, as is the 180 grainers' velocity from a 30-06. Both loads track VERY closely to well past 300 yards. The '06 180 grainer has a sterling reputation as a game getter in its own right, but the 9.3mm 250 grainer gives half-again more impact energy at any given range. Can you say EFFICIENT?
I don't paint bullets. I like Black Rifle Coffee. Sacred cows are always fair game. California is to the United States what Syria is to Russia and North Korea is to China/South Korea/Japan--a Hermit Kingdom detached from the real world and led by delusional maniacs, an economic and social basket case sustained by "foreign" aid so as to not lose military bases.
