    Gives that familiar bakelite smell..
Please just give it a rest. Other members are making good contributions and you are just engaging in douchebaggery. You are adding nothing productive here with your quest to out what makes up another coating.

You offered your method (if you really did develope it) for free. Bask in the glory that brings you, and leave other member's products alone.

I've read my way through this thread and there is some truly good info here. I have some powder on order and will be giving it a try. Looks like an easy enough process to use, although I'll probably goon it up on the 1st couple of tries!! Thank you, TES, for bringing us this process!!

    Except one last " WOW".

45 ACP 200 G SWC Coated Piglet Method

This weekend I shot 100 bullets coated with the PIGLET method through my 45 ACP. 200 Grain SWC cast with Master Cast Machine.

The bullets feed and shot fine and were very accurate. There was no lead in the barrel after the shots were fired.

I did not use any plain base gas checks on these bullets. The powder coating powder was dissolved in pure acetone.

I had to keep shaking the storage bottle to keep the powder coat in suspension.

The powder was from Powder Buy The Pound the color was Mirror Blue.

Two coats of PIGLET method were applied.

Did a small sample of piglet PC. Accuracy was very good in 9mm 1911, P35 hi power and Glock 17 with lone wolf barrel. Accuracy sucked in Glock with stock barrel. All barrels cleaned super easy with no leading and no PC residue. Only put about 25 rounds through each but I believe it shows a bunch of potential.

I need to find a mix ratio and application procedure that gives me the aesthetic outcome we are all seeking. But aside from the coverage being spotty and ugly they worked great. So far for me PC>KK.

Have you slugged the Glock factory barrel?
I have found some guns like .356. Others will only run with .357 pills.
    My G34 likes .357 where the G17 likes .356.

Has anyone here tried to primer the boolits prior to coating?

No, I haven't, but it seems that it might get put on my "to do" list.

Save yourself the trouble and just size to .358". I have three 9mm's with 3 different barrel inner diameters. .358" works well in all.

I want to try to dissolve the powder coat in some NAPA carburetor cleaner, the spray can type.

I tried a small amount while cleaning up the counter top convection oven. The powder coat looked like it dissolved easily in the NAPA cleaner.

The can was just about empty at the time.

I need to go to NAPA and get a few cans and give the material a try at dissolving the powder coat.

I still would like a smoother finish of the bullets.

Has anyone tried a clear powder paint? Seems like an easy way to avoid clumping and splotchy finishes.

^ This seems like a good idea, but I suspect the bullets would look better with the exact same texture/coverage

That's actually the next test batch I will be running.

Great! Can't wait to hear the results.

    On a different note...
Now that I've shortened my oven's extension cord, I'm able to get up to 400 degrees. I've found that additional 25 degrees results in a much smoother finish than my previous bakes.

The cord on my oven can't be a foot long. I had to relocate from the garage to the front porch because to use any outlets I would have to either use a drop cord or rearrange everything. So far I'm just trying to follow the instructions on the packages but then again this isn't normally how powder coat is applied. Maybe a little longer in the oven or a touch more heat should be tested.

    I do 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

My cord wasn't actually too long, it's that it had a spring loaded timer wired into it. I normally use it with my case cleaner. Turn the timer to 3 hours, plug the case cleaner into it, and go to bed. Since it was the only thing handy, I was using it for my oven too. I just bought a dedicated 3 foot cord, and that made a big difference.

I think I am going to get some clear, or maybe some different black. PBTP has some blacks that are a matte black color. I have about gotten the process down to my satisfaction and I am ready to try some other colors.

    "Sir, you are mistaken.
Harbor Freight Powder Coat powder is made in CHINA.
Well at least the bottle of red I have says "Made in China" on the label."

OK, when I went out and looked at my bottle with my old tired eyes, it said "Made in India"
I guess I read just what I was expecting, not what it said.

    Sorry about the earlier post.
