IMR 800 X need some info

I ordered some IMR 700 X from Graf & Sons, when it arrived I was invoiced for 700 X but they shipped 800 X. I have not used it before and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. I did not send it back because any usable powder now is hard to find. I looked on Castpics and they had no load data listed for any caliber. Hodgdon load data have limited load info for 44 Mag, 45 ACP and 45 Colt. Most were in a single bullet wt.

I used it for monster loads in the 10mm. A terrible metering can of little flying saucers.

Does the powder level in the powder measure have any affect on metering. Full to the top help? Low level better? Or just bad at all levels?

Bad at all levels. Have you opened the an and looked at the flakes yet? You could probably use them as plates to eat breakfast on!

Not yet. From the sound of it this 8 lbs might be the backup for the time I can't get anything else. I just hope that time is not too close. Thanks for your input, Jay

There is a limited amount of data on the Hodgdon website. I got a bunch cheap, use it mainly in 45ACP and also my buckshot load. In 45 ACP, I use a H&G #68 200 gr SWC over 7.0 grains of 800x.

The Hodgon website shows 45 ACP 200 gr cast start 6.9 gr ( 861 fps ) and max of 7.7 gr. ( 958 fps )

I was given 5lb many years ago. As said, does not meter well but shot great in rifle loads. 5gr in Hornet, 12gr in .303 etc.

    Get out your dippers.
You can miss fast & you can miss a lot, but only hits count.

Yep. It's a good powder other than the metering issues. What calibers would you like use 800x in?
