Here's some 222 Rem velocity data with bullets from a previous group buy NOE 225107. Unknown alloy, lube and gas check. Ancient WW cases. COAL = 1.690". The bullets were the HP version and weighed 37 grs each. With gas checks and lube, of course. Sized .224" I think.
My goal was circa 2,000 fps and with a powder which more than 1/2 filled the 1.68cc Usable Case Capacity of a 222 Rem case. Gun = 10" T-C G1 Contender with 1 - 14 twist. One only shot each for Chrony reading.
(edit) .7cc Unique = 1756 fps
.7cc WC820 = 1858 fps and loud noise like a 22 mag. This would somewhat work except for the noise and the low case powder level. A double charge of this load would NOT be good.....
.7cc Trail Boss = 1227 fps and 22 CB noise level.
1.0cc Trail Boss = 1527 fps and 22 LR noise level.
1.3cc Trail Boss = 1916 fps and slightly less than 22 Mag noise level. This load *very* slightly flattened the primer. The others didn't. Bright shiny bore at the end of all shots.
When my new group buy non-HP NOE mold arrives, I'll shoot 1.3cc Trail Boss for groups with the bullets.
