    Enfield 1918 no1 mk3

Went for a walk with this pretty blond. Replaced the barrel a few years back with a better one and brought the headspace down nice and tight and recut the chamber.
I shot at 54 meters, 314299 lymans over 7grs Unique, DA 1944 brass. Seated out enough to engage the rifling, was a bitter cold day in the snow. Had a great time, highlight was getting my gun warm and dirty as well as scaring a large bald eagle out of bush. Kind of startlled me too.

Nice lookin' piece! Haven't got a #3Mk1 (yet?) but did have my #4Mk1 out this afternoon. Was going to the club range to test some loads in my .32-20 Low-Wall and, just for the fun of it, tossed in the '43 Longbranch along with a dozen loaded chargers. I'm sure it wasn't as cold here as what you're used to but it wasn't what I'd call an "ideal" day, either...31 F, overcast, and a 7-10 mph cross-wind. After shooting a few 50M groups with the .32-20, I moved over to the 100M/200M bench and killed plastic milk jugs until my feet got cold enough to tell me it was time to go home.

Nice lookin' old warrior you have there.

I use the 314299 boolit in my Enfields too, although I just got an NOE 316299 in order to try a slightly larger diameter in my National Rifle Factory (NRF) produced No1 MkIII.

    The No.3 was a P-14 rifle.
    The No.2 is a No.1 converted to .22 rimfire as a trainer.

More specifically, it was a No1 MkIII converted to a 22 trainer. Thinking of which, was there ever an earlier 22 trainer?

There was the "Rifle, short, .22-inch, R.F." (Mark I) It looked much like a Lee Metford carbine.

Also a "Rifle, short, .22-inch, R.F., Mark II"

There were probably more and I've seen mention of a Royal Navy training rifle.

Morris Aiming Tubes were issued to use in Enfield rifles. I have one for the SMLE rifle in .22RF. Early examples were issued in the .230 Aiming Tube Cartridge (center fire).
