What's your favorite Contender cartridge?

I own 3 frames, and 18 barrels.
One of my frames never gets swapped around. It sports my 14" 7x30 Waters. I've taken almost 100 whitetails, an elk & numerous other critters with it.

I currently have 3 carbine barrels (22Hornet, .223 and 30-30) and 6 pistol barrels (32 H&R, 357 Magnum, 44 Magnum, 45 ACP, 45 Colt and 45 Colt/.410). I have had numerous others over the years. I have to say my most shot Contender barrel is the old octagon 45 ACP barrel with original sights. Easy to carry, light weight and very accurate. It's amazing how much ammo I can shoot in short order. Good thing I've a 6 cavity mould, lots of brass and a Dillon SDB to crank out the ammo. The 32 H&R and 357 Mag barrels are scoped and are probably shot a lot too. Again, thank goodness for 6 cavity moulds, progressive presses and lot's of brass........

22lr, 22 hornet, 6m/m tcu, 6.5m/m tcu, 6.5 jdj, 7m/m tcu, & 30 herret. And yes the 6.5 jdj is scary accurate, IMR 4320 under a Nosler 120 gr bt will stay under 1 inch at 100 easy. The 6m/m & 7m/m are both very good shooters, the 7 being very cast friendly. Getting ready to start working with the 6m/m & NOE 75 gr boolits next. I use pp'ed cast & starting loads to fireform 6.5 & 7m/m tcu's, works great.

The question is favorite and that is hard.
As most of mine are SSK 's that will have to do.
300 w,, 309JDJ,,411JDJ,, and my 45-70 cut for 500gr jacket loads.
Of those the sweetest is the 411...

Super 14 in 35 Bullberry or some other variation of 35 Remington Rimmed

Everyone needs a 22 LR barrel.

The 223 is about as good as it gets for a Varmint/LR Plinker.

The 7 X 30 has proved it's self as a deer round.

The 30-30 AI is a very good deer round. If I were to start over looking for a Deer Barrel in 2013, this would be my first choice. No problem finding cases. It has a Rim. Plenty of case capacity. Cast bullet friendly. Whats not to love.

I have had my 35 Bullberry for years. Very accurate, plenty of power, and manageable recoil. The only bad point in 2013 is finding the parent case to fire form, The 375 Winchester. I happen to have plenty of 375 Winchester brass on hand, so I am good to go for this life time. I finally got a set of C&H dies for mine, a must have. Originally told to use 35 Remington seater dies. Only works for a couple reloads before a full length sizer was needed. With a real die set reloading is a piece of cake for the 35 Bullberry.

I would be racking up the deer with the old 35 Bullberry, EXCEPT I discovered the 480 Ruger Super RedHawk. I like the revolver for woods deer hunting.

The 7-30 Waters is one that is dang hard to improve upon but my favorite shooter is a 17" 6.5 Grendel barrel by Coyote Arms & Accessories.
My contender is the only gun I need.

Back in the mid 90's the Contender bug bit me. I began with a 22 Hornet 14" barrel. After a few reloads, I found the Hornet brass (in my case anyway) seemed to have a short case life. I of course added a Super 14" in .22 LR and began the search for another for whitetails. I couldn't get the hang of 30 Herrett loading (misfires), so I picked up a 7-30 Waters Super 14". I only had the one frame and two barrels. The accuracy with those two barrels never ceased to amaze me. After taking a few deer, I tired of it and sent it down the road. Which, I still regret but finances back played a major role in my gun inventory.

I'm up to 3 frames, 1 G1 and 2 G2. Barrels I have, 22 Hornet, 22 lr, 22 lr match, 221fb, 222, 223, 256 win, 6.5 tcu, 30-30, 357 mag, 357 max, 44 mag and 45 colt, 45 colt/410. Most fun for me is the 256 win. You have to do it all with this puppy, form cases, fire form and reload. Tim

I have been shooting Contenders since 70's and they are worth the money. I have a 30-30 14", 45-70 SSK 14", and a 6.5X220 14" [my own making before SSK came out with the 6.5 barrel] They all are geared for hunting and are extremely accurate and effective. Encore barrels are 45-70 24" and 50 cal muzzleloader. Contenders are addictive!!!

To answer the question "which is my favorite" I would have to say the one in my hand at the time.
