    Stacking cast boolits

I saw an old video post on this forum, it was an old police training video. Anyway, they show boolits being cast and then they were stacked in cigar type boxes and stored. I am assuming the where storing them to let them age. My question is can they be stored in a coffee can just as well? Thanks Mark

Personally, I like the Costco Nut jars because I can see what is in them, but that is just me, I have used coffee cans in the past and they worked just fine.

A friend of mine brought me a bunch of bullets before he talked me into casting. They were all lubed and stacked neatly with layer dividers in the box. Might have been over 1000.
After I got into casting, I tried that with my first batch of 1000 or so. What a PITA!
    Screw that nonsense.
Now I just put them in #10 cans until they're lubed, then I store them in tupperware until loading time.

I use Peanut Butter jars (18 & 40 oz) and Coffee Mate jugs (35.3 oz). I've also used various plastic kitchen containers but they tend to be rather flimsy.

Basically I want the container to be strong and cheap. Clear Peanut Butter jars are an aid to identification but I label everything. I also once tried stacking boolits in boxes but as stated earlier that was a royal PITA. Now they're just randomly placed in the jars. After casting a couple of thousand, I have no desire they be neat and soldier like.

I once had dozens of 50 & 100 round cartridge boxes ... the nice heavy plastic ones; MTM I believe. I still have a few for loaded rifle cartridges but the pistol stuff is stored in properly labeled store-brand HD plastic "zip lock" freezer bags. Those bags are stored in black mechanics tools bags. Got to be careful, too many freezer bags full in a tool bag and they're too heavy to move comfortably.

has any one stored them in surplus 50 cal or 308 cans, just wondering as this has been my plan. I've been storing them in the old heavy duty cardboard that my plated bullets came in these were for 500 rounds but you can fit 750 or so in them. just wondering when the weight above seems to be an issue ( i don't think you would have such an issue with small jars, but my winter cast collection has been growing... I store 1# ingots in the 308 cans, they weight about 90# so i thought about just refilling them with ammo...

I used to use 1 gal. plastic jars with screw on lid. I'd put the cast bullets (.44 and .45 cal.) in them until I sized and lubed, and then put them into some small boxes I made, about 150 per box. That is until my hands were a bit slippery from some home made lube, and I got one of the jars, 3/4+ filled with bullets, about waist high, and lost my grip. Landed on my foot. Hurt like hell! Now if I use one of those jars, it's only 1/2 full at the most, but mostly just pint sandwich style containers....

Mine are in a wide variety of different containers. I never seem to be able to find an empty one when I need it.....

You can store them in anything. I just toss them into small cardboard boxes, 100-1000, depending on size.

Mine go into friends old bullet boxes they saved for me. Xtreme, Bear Creek etc. Makes stacking 10k to 15k of boolits easy in the garage shelves.

I use some plastic containers from the dollar store (I probably have over 100 of them) and they hold 88 of my .460 boolits perfectly. and they stack neatly away

I have stacked in the past. Normally in boxes with cereal box dividers but only those which are ready to load.

I'm a peanut butter jar kind of guy. I eat PB&J for lunch 5 days a week, so they are free, sort of. No stacking, lube a day or less before loading.

I store them in the large plastic drawers normally used to store nuts and bolts in the shop. I think they are 15 drawer units.

I do not think you will be albe to move a .50 cal ammo box full of cast bullets.
