45 Colt Brass What am I looking at?

Here is a picture of 2 pieces of 45 Colt brass from some I got on this sight. What am I looking at on the right? Is this something like the non-lead primer pocket I've run into on some 9mm and 45ACP brass?

I found the same thing in a Hornady .380 auto case yesterday. I believe the depriming punch just knocked the back of the primer and anvil out and left the sides inside the pocket. It was the first time I have seen this. (Other cases from the same box of ammo were normal.)

    Brittle primer that broke.
Seen it with percussion caps made in Italy. They would shatter and stick pieces of the cap in my face. I will not use other then Fed or CCI since.
    Use any US made primers.
It can also happen with glued in primers or swaged in.

They call that a ringer. They make a tool for removing ringers from the case. I got mine from Midway several years ago. I don't think Midway carries them anymore. My ringer removal tool cost less than $20. If you are reloading military cases, you will get some ringers.

Fiocchi brass. Take a small regular screwdriver and pry it out. Bad primer. Nothing wrong with the brass. It is just a little harder from the ones I have used.

Had exactly the same thing happen to me with the same head stamped brass.
Could not figure out why the primer was not seating on my Dillon 550 till I pulled the brass and looked at it.
