What a great idea, I now have a new project! At the range, the rifles stay in the bed of the pickup laying on some carpet scrap with the truck backed up close to where we are shooting.

I just purchased a welding cart from Harbor Freight, $50 delivered, bright red. I will assemble it and outfit it for range time. Not my idea, saw it somewhere. but will keep me from making 2 or 3 trips from the parking lot to the firing line. I'll post some pics when done.

Here in New York, my club (East Aurora Fish & Game Club) uses a wood frame and homosote boards. The boards are replaced every year, due to perforations from high power rifle shoots. We paint a red border and ask that you do not shoot into the red, to preserve the frames. Oh yes! the top of the frame is a board angeled so you cannot put anything on it. We also have a locked gate that you have to code your pin into to gain access, so we know who is using the range when.

At our range you can back right up to near the benches
We have rifle racks there or you can leave them in your vehicles
    25, 50, 100, 200 ranges

Functional and Beautiful! I am an NRA CRSO, and have left 2 clubs because they did not want anything like this. A truck bed was/is considered OK.

    Again, WONDERFUL.

You might assist those of us with less skills with word if oyu mightpost a materials list

We discussed a few days ago a need for a " rifle cradle " that would hold 5 rifles in a safe and secure manner.

Today , I took some scrap wood and made one. We have plenty of room in the " Storage Shack " that is on site at the range to store this, keeping us from having to load and unload it every time we go to the range. So, this rifle rack will stay at the range in the locked range shed.

Tell me what you think ?

In the photo below you can see the white " gummy soft " vinyl weather stripping used to pad the openings for the barrels.

that looks like it works real good.
