Just did a unofficial tally on the responses at NOE
    I wants to maybes
    38 10 to 12
    41 8 to 9
    44 7
    45 10
Surprising that the 44 is the laggard. Would have expected the 41 to be in last place

For those not familiar with the NOE RG moulds they have floating pins for HP or sometimes HB. They always come with a minimum of blank pin sets to make the solid version of the mould.

Yessir, he writes about them in "Sixguns." The 358431 was his 358429 with a hollow base, and the 429422 was the hollow base 429421, both long discontinued. I have both in the old red fiber boxes. The old Shotgun News and Shooting Times classifieds were good to me!

The 358439 was the hollow point version of the 358429. For the 44, the hollow point seems to have been just an option with the original 429421, no separate mould number. Same with the 452423 and 452424, and neither of the 45s had hollow base versions cataloged.

This really took off since last I checked! Just jumped on the group buy over at NOE.

As a real Elmer Keith fan I'm very happy to have been able to donate the .41 and .45 samples from my old, NEI molds. It does my heart good to see the interest in Mr. Keith's TRUE designs.

I hope that NOE will honor Mr. Keith by engraving "Keith" on the molds along with the mold ID. Just a thought.

You will be quite pleased with the quality and production. Make sure the pins are hot and that the mould is fully up to temp. I heat cycle mine 3 times in the oven before first use. Then, I pre-heat them in my special mould oven (metal coffee can on a hot plate) prior to use. I usually get keepers on my first pour.

All 4 group buys are active

    We have LIFT OFF

Swede has listed all 4 to active group buys

YEP!! both HP and HB RGs are available

It's a HAPPY New Year for us faithful - We owe Creeker BIG time for this one

Yo'all need to go the individual GBs to add "I wants" to the individual caliber active buys! Thanks to all that hit the GB discussion for making this one come off!

Note: You don't need to request the 15% GB discount. A few days to a week after the GB is "closed on the machine" you will get a PM with a discount code.

From Swede's comments, "We could run this as a GC if we can get 10 orders (2 form tools)"

And, Miha currently has this one open with a gas check option. Truly, these are the good old days.

Note that the 38, 44 and 45 moulds are all offered with a hollow base option. In particular, the 0.454 Keith design in hollow base could be just what is called for in the older large mouth bass 45 wheel guns, including the Brit 455s.

    Must ask why GC?
Water quench WW gets 21 or better BHN. Haven't looked at 357MAX pressures but they are a maybe
With Patmarlin BP checkmaker dies you can punch beer cans and make BP checks

Just my personal preference for anything 30K and over. I get that you don't need a GC at 30k, but I prefer it. Yes you can just use a harder alloy, but with a GC you can use a softer alloy if you desire.

BTW, GC list added to .357, so I am hoping we get to 10 on that list as well.

WOW!!!! Excellent advice!!!! Allot of the 1917's (seen bore up to .457 in them) would also benefit from those hb bullets.

I'm a huge fan of hb bullets & have over 14 hb molds. My favorite hb molds/bullets are the keith bullets from lyman, the 429422 (2 of them) and the 358431.

Don't have a keith hb mold for the 45cal's, been using this rare cramer 5f hb mold.

    [IMG][/IMG]

It casts a .454 190gr hb bullet for the 45acp.

Gonna have to take a look at a hb mold.

Hey, Forrest, nice photos. I see we have some of the same interests; old Colt and Smith Auto Rims and even Webleys. Your Cramer mould is a beauty and so are the slugs. Would you consider posting some of your experience in casting with HB moulds, specifically to produce such nice boolits? Stuff like mould prep, alloys, temperatures, casting technique. You know, pouring porn.

I stuck with all solids and 4 bangers for now. Figured I'd keep it true to form with the solids.

    Thank you for that.

In reality I'm a real slob when it comes to casting. Don't do any mold prep or allot of the other things I've read here. And the only consistence I have is the pot temp (705*-715*) and pre-heat every mold with a hotplate.

    enjoy
