    Favorite Multi Tool?

What do you guys favor for multi tools, and why?

I keep a Kershaw kocking one in my car, and have been pretty happy with it overall. Wide variety of tools, and all seem well made and useable.

Had a BuckTool that I carried everyday for years. It worked pretty good too, and folded up nicely. The only real problem I had with it was the funky Phillips head screwdrivers on it. The blade locking function finally broke, so I retired it.

Had several Gerbers that were ok too, no real complaints on them I guess, but seemed kind of bulky and I never liked those chain link clips they use to hold things together.

My everyday, dont leave home without it, is a SwissChamp Swiss Army Knife. Amazing how handy this thing is for the little tasks that crop up. Really doesnt seem bulky to carry, and use the pen attachment most often, I think.

I have the leatherman wave that lives in my hiking bag. I have used the right way and the wrong way many times to fix something.

I've only had a Leatherman and a Kershaw. I prefer the Kershaw because of it's channel lock stye jaws.

I have a few leathermans and a gerber. I like the wider opening pliers on the gerber but it is ten years old or more. I have a wave that I love but get the most use out of the leatherman mini as it's screwdrivers are great for instrumentation and I always have it. Costco had them in pairs with the Kick for about $27 and I have a couple of those. I donated a mini to TSA once and may have to do so again as it is always in the pocket.

I like the Gerber that Uncle Sam issued to me years ago. When I got out they forgot to ask for it back and I forgot to mention I still had it.

Leatherman charge XTi was my go-to tool since they came out, until it 'disappeared' somewhere I really liked the quick change bits that also fit quarter-inch hex drivers.

My old Gerber has that add on and it is great.

I have several brands, but the Gerber with the add on screwdriver set is my favorite. I have used the Gerber since it first came out and still have my original but now have a collection of them scattered throughout my vehicles, back packs, and hunting gear.

    Best wishes,

I have a Schrade tough first generation with the laminated pliars. It is starting to show its age. The pliers are getting loose and the small screwdriver bit is getting pretty short from being straightened and re-ground. I am in the market for a new mulit tool.

Original multitool I have which was issued to me (1967) resembles the original Leatherman, but has no markings on it.

Interesting is to look through old OSS and SOE equipment lists WW2 and that is were all this stuff came from....

This is a WW2 version which recently sold on EBay for $1425!!!

Original Leatherman multi tool. Had it for long time, maybe 20 years or getting close. It's like a third hand.

I have an older gerber when they were still made in the States. I have been looking at the Swiss Victorinox for awhile, have read many great reviews on it

SOG PowerLock, hands down. I love that it opens like a butterfly knife, with only one hand. The compound gear plier mechanism gives incredible gripping/cutting strength. I've snipped the heads off of 16-penny nails using it quite easily with no damage to the wire cutters. Also, every tool on it locks, so nothing will close on your fingers.
