    Cleaning station.

I did not much like the rifle vices you could buy at Midway so I made this one.

I was in Lowes with my son and told him about wanting to do this a few days ago.
Now I have a plan to look at, thanks much.

Your welcome. The padding on the jaws and rest boards is from a 12 rib serpentine drive belt from a truck. I contact cemented it where I needed it. All the rest, including the old desk I had to build 2 legs for came from scrap I had laying around. The screw clamps came from Harbor Freight, $5.98 each on sale. I like these clamps because it allows me to very to very the angle between the jaws to match the stock. The trays in the center are from an old tackle box. The bar clamp pulls the wedge blocks together to hold the assembly tight against a stop block. Loosen the clamp and the vice is portable. Works great for sighting in a scope. Best part is it does not warp and twist when you clamp a rifle in it.

I've been looking for a cleaning rest and thank you for pointing me in great direction. I need to grab a couple of vises from Harbor Freight and other than padding material, I have everything else in the workshop. Well done on your design sir!
