    The Roman Empire was famous for assimilating local customs, rituals, traditions, and beliefs of the cultures they invaded into their own because it was an effective tool for gaining acceptance.

    It's Resurrection Day! Even the word "easter" derives from "Astarte" and other names for the fertility goddess of most of the pre-Christian middle east. I don't know of a single symbol of "Easter" that is not a fertility symbol in some culture.

    I think one reason I enjoy Easter more than Christmas is the Resurrection. We are all born, our Saviour came back after he died for our sins. And quite honestly, it's a holiday that hasn't been over-commercialized.
