30-30 starter package

I'm offering up 100 pieces of 30-30 brass that has be full length resized, trimmed, and tumbled in SS media. I'm also including 100 311041 boolits to go with it. Here's we're you get an option. I can send the bullets unlubed, and include the gas checks and a stick of carnuba red on the side, or send them lubed, checked, and sized, but can only size them to 309. I have a pre 64 Winchester, and the barrel is right at 307, so I never got any other sizing dies.

I would like the person that takes this to be starting out, new to the 30-30, or in need. I will take preference over someone that hasn't excepted a gift from this section before.

If you have a preference on brass brand, let me know, I probly have it. Let me know.

Lizard..I would love to have it, but don't know if it'll work for me. I'll give you my situation and you can help me determine that. I just recently picked up my first .30-30, an old Marlin 36. It's a 1948, that I've taken out once. I've been reloading pistol for awhile but haven't reloaded much rifle yet. I picked up a set of .30-30 dies from another member recently with the intention of loading for it. I've recently started trying to acquire some casting info to get into that also. Here's my dilemma, I haven't ever slugged a barrel, so don's know the exact particulars of this gun. As I'm just trying to start learning about casting, I don't have a luber/sizer yet either. So I don't have the equipment to size them myself, but also don't know if .307 is where i need to be either. Any feedback would be appreciated.

You sound like a good candidate to me. Package is yours. The 309 sized boolits will most likely do fine. Earlier barrels were sometimes smaller. I'll include a pure lead slug so will know for sure begat brand if brass do you want?

Here's my dilemma, I haven't ever slugged a barrel, so don's know the exact particulars of this gun.

This is a great tutorial about slugging bores, with a great diagram about bore, grooves and lands:

How I do it without a lubrisizer:
I cast the Lee 309-150-FPGC and the 309-170-FP GC from WW, clip the GC on with finger pressure, pan lube using this method:

Then use the Lee .311 sizer to crimp on the GC and size the boolit (also neatens the lube in the grooves ready for loading).

My pan lube is Bee Wax, Petroleum Jelly, Lanolin (all cheap and easy to purchase locally), there are my pictures here:

For the Lee TL314-90-SWC I use straight Lee Liquid Alox or the recluse 45/45/10 Tumble lube made easy method:

Wow, this site amazes me. I too could have benefitted from this gift. I have a Marlin 336 and according to my barrel slug the boolits will need to be .309. Great site, wish I would have found this site a long time ago.
