30-30 will out shoot 38-55 all day long.
If you want one, just buy one, dont ruin a good 30-30

Unless of course the 30-30 is already shot out, or the bore is dark/pitted, or he already has a 30-30 that he likes & came by the Marlin at the right price, or he just plain wants something that size, I for instance have a 64(not pre) 94 Win in 32 Special the finish was pretty non-existant on the receiver & the wood, but otherwise a functional piece. I plan to have it re-bored to 35/30-30 by JES. as to how much it'll cost, depends on whether you want 3 groove or 4/5 groove rifleing, if memory serves its $225 for 3 & $250 for 4 or 5 groove, and he stated about a 2 week turn.

Just be reminded that the .375 Win has a 50,000 psi SAAMI pressure rating, which I think is over what that Marlin is good for. The .38-55 was/is a great round for paper patching. And don't sell it short for accuracy.

No problem at all - send it to JES REBORING (Oregon), along with a check for $245 (last I checked), and he'll rebore & chamber it to .38-55.

No other changes would be necessary. Under Federal law, you don't even need to use an FFL to send/receive your own rifle to him (or any other FFL) for customization and/or repair.
