Same body - different driver and internals. No batteries or charger in the price either. Generally they are extremely under driven and their lumen estimates can usually be divided by either 2 or 3 to come closer to reality.

I would recommend the a-lens for the originals.
I use mine about twice a week and its great. Its daylight in a can.
Last Halloween i let the boy take it. I could see him a mile away because of the color of light it produces and through brightness

Externally maybe but, once you have one of these in hand at night you can say it's not like anything else for the same price or cheaper. My wife actually got called to go to a place we babysit occasionally for the owner by the police and wanted and flashlight, made the one's the police were using look like candles in the wind - they wanted to know where it came from as they considered it weapons grade output. (Blind someone!)

I use mine daily in the garage door business - wouldn't want to be without it.
