Jack's 311466 Group Buy is here!

Here is a pic with a few modifications but original drawing info still on it, so as to give credit to the 'drawer'.

The only items changed are the driving band dia. From .3125 to .311, and the nose was increased to .301. The target dia of the driving bands will be .311 - .312.

This will be a Group Buy for NEI mold.

Here are the standard NEI prices. Once again you can order any mold with any number of cavities. Pay the corresponding mold price plus $20 to cover the cherry fee and shipping.

    Alumin
    2 cav $86
    4 cav $110
    6 cav $140

    Mehite
    2 cav $110
    4 cav $150
    6 cav $200

This buy will run for 2 WEEKS! (or actually Until Sept 4th as Monday is Labor day...)

You may PM me with questions and let me know what you want. This will also be on the Group buy site. But if you wish NOT to use the GB site PM me directly.

All dimensional questions and changes wanted are to go through Jack Stanley. I will make no changes unless Jack says so.

I will take care of ordering the molds, monies, shipping, and testing the mold for accuracy and the other stuff as honcho's do.

Sign me up on this one Please PM your address and I'll get a check or money order moving .

Fellas , notice the nose is a bit larger on this one as it was suggested to me . I intend to shoot this in a couple thirty caliber rifles that ain't worn to bad and maybe a tight .303 British . I'm still tossing up the idea of reducing the front driving band to .302 or .303 . If I don't here one way or the other I'm happy with what I see .
I have a NEI 308-173 GC in a four cavity aluminum and it works very well . I don't expect any less in quality from NEI this time around .

"Mehite" is a type/grade of steel. I guess more properly it is a process used in making the steel. Thought to be by some the holy grail of mold material.

Iron with copper included is the Mehenite that I have seen for mold use. Most cast irons are indeed steel by the strict definition, because of the carbon content. Cast irons have 2 to 3 percent of carbon, as opposed to the familiar 4140 having only a 4 tenths of a percent. Cast iron has many porous inclusions. Keep in mind that Mehenite is a corporation that might or might not exist anymore, but they have several different "steel" compositions that are quite unique via their processing patents. Other folks make "coppered iron" today, and that is what we want for the best material. However, the older we casters get, the more aluminum becomes attractive because of the weight factor. ... felix

Blammer , I think I remember using Lyman number 467 as a top punch for this .

About now , I'm facing a quandry , should I be happy with the two four cavity moulds but be selfish and keep both when somebody wishes out loud that they had got with it . Or ......... do I bust the budget with everything else going on and get two more ....Hmmmm ......... ( where's the icon for head scratchin' )

If one doesn't have correct punch on hand, you may want to check with NEI; they make RCBS/Lyman, Star and Saeco punches and machine them with the same cherry as the mold.

PMO for a 4 cav. aluminum sent yesterday. This is my first involvement in one of these group buys. Out of curiosity how long does it take, on average for these orders to be filled.

    With Lee WHO KNOWS!

fortunately we are doing an NEI.

so far on the first group buy for nei it's been about 2 months or less.

actually I started the NEI group buy on July 10th, we got our sample mold about 2 wks ago, and the rest should be to me for mail out this week, so Sept 10 will be 2 months.

I expect this one to go about as fast.
