Odds and ends of powder, and what to do with them

Like most gun loonies, over the course of many years of handloading, I have accumulated a heckuva lot of odds and ends of powders which sit quietly by whilst I do most of my loading with a mere handful of 'regular' powders. Last night I was looking at it and found some HS-7, HS-6, 800X, W-680, H-322 that I haven't touched in years, and some for which I have no memory of why I got it. The H-322 was my favorite back when I shot a .223 when hunting ground hogs, for example. I did recently load some .45 Colts with some HS-6. Aside from those uses, do any of these powders have a righteous place in loading cast bullets in centerfire rifles?

I've been stuck in a rut using SR-4759, Unique, 2400, RL-7, 3031 for so long in most any .25-.30 caliber rifle that I can't see the forest for the trees anymore!

I have been using 322 in my 25x39 with 80 grain and it likes it.
As far as hs-7and hs-6 i have used 7 in my 12 gauge turkey loads and used 6 in some pistol calibers.

The hs-7 was discontinued a few years ago so i bought about 5 pounds at the time, enough to load all my turkey loads for my lifetime,i hope.

W680 was (and still is) the factory powder for the .22 Hornet.

I sold a lot of my surplus powders at a gun show a few months ago - before the Great Price Explosion. I weighed the powder in each partial can and sold it at a dollar an ounce. Surprisingly, only a few people said they wouldn't buy opened powder. I sold 30 cans or so, all different kinds.

extra powder like that makes a heck of a bang in a pvc pipe, with a sparkler stuck in an end cap and lit.

you can use all of it for different things.
800-x is outstanding in the 44 mag in, 12 ga field loads, and in the 20ga.
i would have no problems using it in rifle loads try one more grain than unique calls for and go from there.
H-322 is outstanding in many rifle caliber but you do have to use a tuft of dacron with it.
i have used it in the 7.65 argie,7.5 swiss, and the 308 in the past.
hs-6 and 7 both are pretty good in shotshell loads and in the 44 mag and 45 colt.
but could be used in rifle loads with little problem they are both pretty stable.

the 680 is good in the 0-6 with 150-170gr boolits i was using 22 grs for good results, you can work up some from there.
it really does well in the 25-20 type cases too,9- 10 grs under a 72 gr boolit does nicely in both of my 92's

you have the powders, just find their corresponding family members load data start there and work up.

It's to to meet a few more local reloaders. Somebody's got a use for the stuff you no longer need.

Odds and ends like that may become precious commodities if (when?) you run out of what you usually use.
