Need a little help with Star Lube/sizer

How does the crankshaft assy. on these come apart, is one end or the other pressed on ?? mine is from early 90's if that makes a difference.

    Thanks, Fred

I don't know about the earlier ones, but in case they're the same, once the handle is removed, the crankshaft still won't come out because it is held in by the linkage. The linkage needs to be disassembled by lightly driving out one of the pins to release the linkage bar. Once the linkage assy. is broken down, the shaft slides right out.

How tight should the pin be ? I tried knocking it out with a hammer and pin punch, but didn't have any luck, didn't want to hit it too hard though, do I need to set it up on the press ?

Because the crankshaft is getting a little stiff, lubing helped, but it still catches, I want to pull crank and make sure it's not galling in bearing, so it doesn't get busted.

Don't know if this will work in this case but it has saved my butt on several stuck fasteners on cars. Most auto supply stores sell a product in an aerosol can that freezes the offending fastener. You could try squirting it with that and then use the punch and hammer on it.

Thanks, I got this fixed a while back, but I'll keep that stuff in mind for future use.
