Exactly why I stopped buying from them. Their prices are good, but the shipping is terrible.

Last years was the last time I ordered from them for this reason. Midway or brownells may be a few cents more, but what I save in shipping makes it a much better deal.

Natchez seems to use their shipping costs a a major profit center.

They tack on a a extra $3.99 for handling over and above shipping rates. That's why I use Mid-South if possible.

I actually had the same problem with Buffalo arms. I however called them and they fixed the price. I really like dealing with them and they admitted the shipping was way too high. +1 for Buffalo Arms.

But then there was the time a group of us made a big order from Natchez about the time of the first obamanation. Right at a $1000 dollars

The order was going to exceed the weight allowed to be shipped with one Haz mat fee, but since the part of the order that put us over was mine, I just figured I'd eat the cost just to get the powder and primers.

Not only did they ship the powders along with the primers which isn't done by some suppliers, but they used a bulk shipping or something which allowed the package to exceed the required weight limit.

They saved us a lot of money in just that one order. I like Natchez.

Midway is the one that really jacks up the S/H charges!

Most of these mail order companies make as much on the shipping kickbacks as they do on merchandise.

I ordered two sets of the Brownells gas rings for the AR. $3.99 apiece and they came in an $11 box. I called and asked about that. They would have gone in a first class envelope. The lady told me shipping is the profit center.

If you ever need to do business with Bruno's shooters supply hang on to your back side, my last order which will be my last order they tacked on two $3.00 charges for packaging materials (used box and filler material) plus shipping. Maybe they don't need the business or are tired of working, either way I'm done with them.

I just order some replacement part for my little Drip-O-Matic. Total shipping and handling was under $4.00 and parts were the cheepest I could find on line. These were bulky items and did not come in an envelope. Amazing how some companies can charge so little and others charge so much. One of the reasons I deal with Amazon so much.

Thanks for the post. I had just ordered a 2 screw set for a tang sight from them and it showed up as $7.64 for shipping. I called them up and asked and the fellow changed it to 1st Class mail and $3. He said that it would have been changed to that price when shipped but who knows? Any how thanks for your post.

I usually buy from Grafs. They charge $6.95 shipping for your entire order. Their prices may be a little higher, but after figuring in shipping the total cost is usually lower. They are fast shippers and nice too.

UPS shipping is horrible, especially for individuals. I suspect the give big business a much better price. I just shipped a case of 12 ga. buckshot from Pa. to Tx. to a friend via UPS; they charged me FORTY THREE DOLLARS and some change for shipping. Fortunately said friend reimbursed me the shipping, but if one had to pay for that case of ammo PLUS the shipping, well....better to look for a local supplier.

My butt still hurts from the last round of Snatchezz shipping. They have two options, UPS rape and some sort of combination where it ends up shipped by mail at about half the cost. I chose the lower one, naturally. I had done something wrong and had to back up a page and their shipping reset itself to the UPS rate, which is their default method. I missed it when the order totaled up so I got boned. Won't happen the next time. The mail option is about half the cost of the UPS one and, IMO, the lower cost, albeit slower, one should be the default. But that would put ethics ahead of profit so who am I kidding?

I like the prices at Nanchez, however have only ordered from them once, with a free shipping code due to exactly that reason. Shipping it getting expensive but there's is terrible! Placed to small order with midsouth and titan this week, both orders showed up on the 3rd day after shipping and were almost 1/2 the price on shipping as nanchez wouldve been and they take FOREVER to get stuff to you to boot!!!

I don't know why many of these places don't us USPS for shipping. They could probably cut shipping rates in 1/2 or better on most of the orders by using the flat rate shipping. And it would help out the failing USPS.

What I really don't get is why MAIL ORDER companies charge a handling fee. The nature of their business REQUIRES the handling of all items. In retail business that is just absorbed into the product cost...... When I go to the grocery store I don't have to pay an extra charge for the boy to bag my groceries......................It just supports the idea that it is their profit maker...........

I have ordered small electronic stuff shipped out of china that got here within a few days and cost less than $5 shipping................
