This is a way cool painting.. Does anyone know its name or anything about it?

It's called The Bulletmakers. Painted by Gayle Hoskins, part of the Samworth Collection.
Better known as "The back cover of Lyman's Handbook of Cast Bullets, First Edition, 1958."
And I've looked everywhere for a reproduction and can't find one.....bummer.
Looks like she's pouring led on his bare foot LOL
Good pic though.
i don't think you could paint fast enough to capture that.
I too have always liked the picture and wanted a copy.I never could find any info on it or where I might buy a copy.
So I took my old copy of the Lyman Castbullet hand book and scanned the picture into Photoshop.
This is what I came up with
Original Scan
And my final version that I made a 8x10 from for my loading room
That is a very neat picture. TCFAN I thought of you immediately when I saw the OP regarding the picture.
Mark 5:34 And He said to her (Jesus speaking), "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your affliction."
I believe there are places that can take a picture and transfer it to canvas like a painting.
I don't have photoshop so TCFAN you might as well send me a copy....smiles.
That is very cool print. I will start searching myself. It would look great in the old reloading room.
I have always liked that print too.
Although I think that the first time a hot round ball rolled into his foot he might not be too happy.

(I think, therefore I'm armed.)
That is a neat painting, and nice job you did, TCfan.
I too was thinking that it takes a man with more brass than i got in me to cast barefoot on the floor! Talk about brave! Now we say "Don't fry bacon naked" (DFBN), I guess back then they didn't have such sayings!

"If you ain't shootin', you should be reloadin' if you ain't reloadin' you should be movin', if you ain't movin', somebody's gonna come by and cut your head off and put it on a stick!" Words to fight by, from Clint Smith
Made me think of a bit from "Little House on the Prairie" (the book) where Laura is taught by her father to make the balls for his rifle. First time I cast one of my own that dropped from the mould in perfect shape shining dull silver I immediately thought of the passage where she is tempted to touch the as yet too hot bullets cooling on the buckskin pad her father used to catch 'em.
Guess I wasn't as smart, burned my fingers right then!
Freedom in America was not won with a "registered" firearm, nor was it a gift of the ruling class.
