    What Primers can be used in .223 and .300 AAC

    What primers can be used in these calibers besides small rifle primers?
    Life member NRA and Texas State Rifle Assoc.

    Small pistol are not designed to withstand the pressures developed by rifle cartridges, small rifle magnum will work with a reduction of the powder charge.

    If you are using them in a semi-auto, they usually take almost a full house load to operate the action so you are stuck with SR or SR-M but if you are using a reduced load in a single shot or bolt action etc., small pistol will work

    In bolt guns and single shots it doesn't make much difference. Whatever you work up the load with will probably work fine.

    In semi and full autos with floating firing pins, slam fires are a possibility so small rifle at the lease; or if you want to be sure then "military primers".
