    .458

    Dies are availble for order.

As you can see perfect .458 bullets can be made from simple 40S&W brass and even 45ACP brass. The results are pretty Awesome! No reason you shouldn't be shooting that 45-70 or any of the big .458s a bit more often with results like this from nothing more then a bit of scrap brass and a bit of lead!

How well will they work in a .458 SOCOM. I need dies for mine. Cost and turn around time? I may want an adjustable core mold also.

Got several of teh .458 core seat dies at nitride right now. I ran out of time to send teh point form dies in as well as they need just a little finishing touches yet.

I imagine they would work very well in any .458 caliber of your choosing including the socom! I'll be happy to set you guys all up.

BT - Would this combo be possible using a 40S&W as jacket. A 350-450gr TC/FP as a half jacket such that the exposed lead is about .444" and tapering to the flat point. The exposed lead does not contact any rifling.

And - Yes, I want to try this in a 458 SOCOM.

Yes! I have made exactly that! using 40 S&W and a 300 grain core as I recall gave me a real nice 360ish grain bullet with a FP lead tip that was not exposed enough to engage the rifling. I think I may have even made some over 400 grains with the 40 S&W. Probably posted some pics of it somewhere.

I already cast my own bullets for 45-70. What do I all need to make these? How much for a set of dies?

Hi BT, I'm intrigued by this process and was wondering what I would need in terms of dies, molds and jackets to make 458WinMag +- 400gr bullets? Sorry for the stupid question newbie at this!
    thanks bosco
