    My Model 53 32-20 pics

I retired Monday and the guys I work with bought this for me. I killed my first Deer with a rifle like this and have always wanted one. Probably the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. I actually came here looking for some recipes. I have new starline brass and some 115 gr cast bullets. I want to shoot it tomorrow! Thanks, Ken

joken, beautiful rifle. Try 5.2 grains of Unique behind those 115 gr. boolits. SP or SM primers, which ever you have will work fine. Don't have too much fun with it. JW

You are indeed a blessed man - The rifle is one thing - But the guys you work with - Now that is really something. I'm sure you will not be leaving them behind, even though you wont't be working with them in the same way. May we all be so fortunate.

I have one set up like that in a Marlin and installed a green fiber optic which is about as usable now as a scope. The Unique recipe is a good one as are a pile of others. I went back to my heavier bullet in the 32-20, a 12o grain Lee round nose. I still do not like overloading the little cartridge and keep it around that Unique load mentioned. I am using up some shotgun powders I do not use anymore and load them to about a 1300 fps level.

I loaded up a few rounds with 5.2 gr of Unique this morning. I can shoot here at home, but am limited to about 20 yards. The first two rounds went in the same hole. You guys know how that goes. I made the mistake of thinking it was easy and the next round was about an inch off. I'm going to whack some sage rats with this little rifle. Thanks for the kind words. Ken
