    Lyman 287308?

Has anyone had any experience ( good or bad ) with the 164 gr gc rn Lyman 287308 ? I am looking to try it in 70/8 and would like to hear if it has been found to be a dog or a shining star! Any ideas or input would be appreciated.

Old post I know. I just tried this bullet in a Ruger #1 in 7x57 using 10. Unique. Bullet seated to touch the lands. Was getting 1 inch at 100 yards. Was using WW and PC sized to .288

Finding one of these is like finding hens teeth.
Anyone make a decent clone - NOE lists a 171gr that looks close??
Have a Mcgowen bbl that shoots lights out with J's and if I stumble on one
of these I'll jump on it and play with my 08 a little bit but it's a second tier
    project at the moment.

I made 50 each with unique, 700x and rx7 they all shot about 3” at 100 yards. The groups were opening up because I was not letting my pencil barrel cool very much . I believe I could get better groups with some effort but I got distracted shooting my 358 win with cast . I’m close enough to deer season now I won’t adj my scope . I’ll probably start tinkering with this boolit again in the spring. They are fun !

I got a single cavity one that was hollow pointed from a member here, works well in my 7x57. Good deer hunting bullet in my one and only (so far) experience with it.

I did try this one in my 7mm-08 (CVA Optima Elite) but it has to be seated so deep to chamber that it didn't work very well. That 7x57 sporter I pictured above has a generous throat, despite it having a commercial barrel on it. I can seat that bullet far enough out that nothing is inside the case. I size mine to .287, by the way.

An excellent bullet in my 7x57 M95 Mauser. When cast of COWW + 2% tin I found 26 gr IMR4895 with a Dacron filler to be a very accurate load. In your 7-08, should you choose to try IMR4895, I suggest starting at 20 gr and work up to 27 gr with a Dacron filler.

I would like to have one of these molds to try out in a few of my single shot pistols. Probably not enough interest for a group buy but I sure would be interested.
I was a dog on a short chain.
    Now there's no chain.
