    Miha 30-Sil AKA: MP 311-180

Been working with my Rem xr100 in 308, trying to find a decent cast load. Don't know how many hundreds of rounds have been put down range, without any groups less than 1.5". Gun should be capable of better.

Got the new Miha mould in and cast some boolits using ww's with 0.3% copper, water dropped, sized .311", gator checks, very thin coat of thinned LLA, and lubed normally using a lube I use, made from 4 other lubes. 22gr imr 4759

As shown on the target, first round was left of the group. Probably blowing out all the unburnt powder from the 4831 eq. power loads I was shooting yesterday. Group on the right is 5 shots. Tried also the NOE 311041 copy, the NOE 311299 and NOE 311247 with the same powder charge. No go. Shooting at 100yds, with a bit of wind.

I can live with this load.

What is a Rem xr100? Guessing the velocity of that load from a rifle would be about what like 1700 fps or there about?
    Darn nice group there!

OVERVIEW: XR-100™ RANGEMASTER® BOLT ACTION CENTERFIRE RIFLE

    Description: Bolt-action single-shot target rifle

    Introduction Year: 2005

    Year Discontinued: 2007

    Total Production: N/A

    Designer/Inventor: N/A

    Action Type: Single-Shot Bolt-Action
Basically the XR100 is really a 40x rifle, is a single shot, 40x trigger and most will shot sub-moa groups, not bad for an $800.00 rifle compared to the 40X from the custom shop that's more like 1500.00 to $1800.00.

Yep that is a heck of a group! I hope they all shoot that good.

Now that's what shooting is all about. Great group. It's so rewarding after working so long and hard to find the right combination.

I am waking up this old thread and hoping others might add there experience with this design.
I was lucky finding this mold at this weekends local gunshow and look forward to trying it in my Win 70 30-06

I have this mold and use it for silenced 308 subsonics. Shoots very well with trailboss and titegroup!

Loading cast for the M1A is surely "advanced" castboolit loading.
I will admit, that I haven't done it...but have read that those who have successfully (and have credibility that I trust), claim you need to load so the boolit jumps to the lands (like is typical for loading J-words), instead of the common bore riding style of loading that most of us cast boolit shooters do for rifle.

With that said, this boolit is a tapered design, that is a tad on the large size and if the throat in you M1A is tight, you'll end up seating the boolit quite deep in the case...and that may work? but it's not usually ideal.

FYI, the boolit's nose (from my mold) measure .313 on the driving band and tapers down to .299 near the ojive.
