I have small compass glued onto my rifles, so I always have a compass if I have my rifle.
I have an SOG Paratool on my belt at all time.
Apart from those, I have a small hydration bag of goodies with first aid, shelter and some food.

Used to my wife knew I would be back in 3 to 5 days. Now I am normally just gone a few hours just before daylight and back before midnight. I still carry a ton of junk anyway.
