    Use for gifted 800X???

Yes I got a gift of 800 X and though enough to play with, not enough to get serious with load development and shooting so a decent plinker is good.

    Anyone got any reasonably goo loads I can use to plink with in 222, 219 D. Wasp, 6.5-7 TCU, 7mm Mag, 30-30, 30-06, 7.7X58, 338 Mag, 7.92X57, 38 SPL, 357Mag, 357Max, 44 spl, 44 Mag, 45-70 rifle or pistol.

Surely someone has some decent load to let me use this powder in a fun way.

Looking at the powder I assume it will be a weighed charge deal as I don't see it going through a measure well/consistently.

I used it years ago and used it for 10mm, 357 and 44 mags. A big bang for the buck. Accuracy was fair to good. Doesn't go through the powder measures great.
I still have a big jug of it and also curios what other think...

It's a great powder for light bullets in 10mm but its the worst metering powder I have ever used. It's a pistol and shotgun powder, not suitable for rifles unless shooting light loads with boolets.

Someone once very insightfully described it by saying "it flows through a powder measure like paper plates."

lolz @ the descriptions , there's some truth to that but it does rock in the 10 mm ,sadly that wasnt on your list ( so ...you best get one :P ) hodgdon has some limited data for the 357 and 44 mags

How much? I have an unused lb of 760 looking for a home. Bought it for a 30-06 that never happened. Even if it's just a 1/2 lb. In the old tin even better!

It also gives excellent accuracy with high velocity in the .45 acp using 200 gr SWC bullets. Ken Waters did a great article in Handloader years ago. The only bad thing about it is it meters terribly.

its a great slow burning magnum pistol powder so rounds like 44mag, it could be interesting in your tcu but *** stated it it meters like **** so you will need to weigh the charges you can find data for the 44 loads here http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp

I used to use it in AA hulls loading steel in the mid-90's. It was a good load that killed all kinds of ducks and geese. Never got around to trying it in anything else. The load was a Ballistic Products one as I recall using their multi-metal wads. I've got the recipe around here somewhere if anyone needs it.

use a loading block and tap the measure handle a few times each time you throw a charge. Good procedure, anyway. You can visually check the cases for abnormal fill. It will work in pistol cases but isn't intended for rifle. actually a shotgun powder.

    Hodgdons manual no. 26 lists some 44 mag loads with 800x.13.5 max with a 240 gr. 12.5 with a 265 gr. 15 with a 180 gr. 14.5 with a 22 gr.

Hey, I shoot 10B101, I KNOW POOR metering!

Well of all things I stumble across an old article in my files from John Taffin and he has two load levels with 800X and 240 grain boolit in 44 SPL.

    6 1/2 - 7 1/2 inch barrel Rugers

    7.5 852 fps

    8.0 886 fps

With the SAM1 wad and 800X in Federal Gold Metal cases I can push 3/4 oz of steel #2 shot up to 1850 fps, but you have to weigh all shot and powder charges and hand assemble each cartridge. What a difference it makes in duck lethality over 1400 fps factory loads.

I used up my skeet leftover in my 38 - can't remember the exact load but
it shot extremely well - all holes touching @ 25 and that is awesome for me.
Best me or my Wesson ever did.

Glad someone asked about this powder because a bud told me today he has an 8 pound can for me.

It was leftover from his sporting clays days.

Has anybody tried the stuff in bottle necked cases with cast bullets? I too was given a can of it- must be something in the air.

There is definitely something in the air cause a buddy just handed me a about 5 lbs of it a couple days ago. Now with what i already have i need to start using some up.
I might have to start working up some loads for the 30-06 with the silhouette boolit.

If it works out I plan to try it in the 222 to push the 225415 tomorrow afternoon.

I will be happy with 1" at 50 so I have a plinker with some authority.

I used 800X to fire the best 100 yard group I have ever shot with my Ruger Bisley 45 Colt. The group is about 3"ctc.
