Each year when the leftover seeds go on clearance sale I buy an assortment of whats available and store them in a cool, dry, dark place. I may not get the same germination rate as Seed Vaults. But from gardening experience older seed of most varieties will sprout.

No, I buy heirloom seeds yearly to supplement what seeds I save from previous years. I need to get better at saving seeds....

I've been planting heirloom seeds as much as possible the past few years and saving the seeds. Hardest part is finding heirlooms that work in the short growing season here in NW Montana.

I bought heirloom seeds from My Patriot Supply and they came in sealed gray bags in a large priority mail envelope. Should these be frozen or is the sealed UV resistant bag and a dry environment good enough?????

My local military surplus store sells a metal coffee type can that is sealed with a variety of seeds to plant a good size garden. I didnt look close enough at it to determine the "shelf life" of it.
