Has anyone bleached rabbit fur? I would like to bleach some to dye it different colours.

Years ago a friend had to come up with a couple white buffalo hides for a movie. He used hydrogen peroxide.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!
I've bleached and dyed deer hide before. I am not sure if it is that much different than doing rabbit fur. You can use the Rit dye that is sold in some of the discount stores to change the color. Obviously you won't be able to take a darker color and make it lighter unless you bleach it first. The best thing I have found for this is the hydrogen peroxide sold at beauty salon supply stores. I don't recall the exact percentage of the the product but I do know the 2-3% stuff you get at the drug store is a no-go. It does not have the power to lighten the fur.
I used the deer hide for tying flies. The white underbelly works great as it is if you want a lighter color. Dying the white fur and some off the back in the same color will produce different shades which is nice for tyers.
