I store my "ready stock" of TP in a drawer, can't put it on the roller dispenser deal as a pet runs it all over the floor... Walked in one morning about 5am, 90% asleep, wondering "How in the world did it SNOW in the bathroom?!?" until I figured out that it was TP. Whole roll gone...

So I put it in the drawer, the other critter knows how to open drawers but that one doesn't (yet...)

Live alone so no SWMBO, sadly, no issues with running out of TP either tho.

why bother? telephone yellowpages, newspapers, a smooth, round rock, or rag, a bit of soap. TP degrades, sitting in its plastic wrapper. It's not worth bothering-with. Get useful stuff instead, like fish antibiotics, night vision, luminous sights, a sound suppressor (at least for a .22lr) solar charger, passive IR scanner, gillnets, snares, non-hybrid seeds, .22lr ammo, (preferably the subsonic 45 gr Federal) water filter, iodine.

Time to bump this thread because a lot of people are learning how important TP is.

Can’t believe that we haven’t talked about proper orientation of the roll.

Upon reading this thread last march, i decided to conduct the test as well. Bought an 18 pack of mega rolls, the strong walmart brand. Still have 5 or 6 rolls left, and rarely use any outside my own bathroom.

Also bought the same pack probably a month later for the gf's house when i saw she had some really cheap paper that i didnt like. Shes still has a few left of that pack i believe but has also used all the cheap stuff as well.

Ex wife went through an 18 pack a week.

Other observations: im much more conservative with the paper when i actually put it on the roll holder thing. If i just sit it on its side on top of the roll holder like i usually do; grabbing the roll with one hand and getting what i need with the other, i use quite a bit more. I could easly make the 18 pack last twice as long if i would just use the roll holder as intended.

Although she used more than myself, i am more impressed with the gfs useage.

Have discussed this with my parents as well when i saw their stack of 9 of the giant sams club packs that have like 30 rolls each. They apparently go through a roll a day.

    Lesson: your mileage may vary.

I leave the TP inventory up to SWMBO. We have never even close to running low even during the pandemic.

Consider buying a case or two of the coimmercial size rolls. The ones they use in WaLmart restrooms. The rolls are about a foot in diameter. You aren't likely to use them before you need them.

Using this method (which I do not prescribe) a roll should last a year or more.

I am part owner of a company that sells TP. I buy it wholesale by the case. A case lasts 18 months.
I get a new case when the last one is half full.

The number of rolls I use vs the number of rolls my wife uses are vastly different!!!

I recommend keeping track of a "household" usage for at least 6 months and preferably a full year.

    Good luck!

Buy four (4) of the Costco or Sams Club Bulk Toilet Paper packages and put them in the Garage or storage shed. Only use the Toilet paper from this 'Stash". A year later see how much is left. That will tell you a Years Supply for your needs (You, Spouse, Kids, Relatives, Visitors over the year included). We keep our excess Paper Towels and Toilet Paper in one of the Travel Trailers - get when needed and Inspect the Travel Trailer for Bugs, pests, leaks etc. on the visit. Put else where if Travel Trailer is needed for Trips/Lake/Overflow for large family events when all the Kids, Daughter/Son Inlaws, Grand Kides, etc... visit.

I was taught to fold the square in quarters. Tear off the point that was the center of the square. Wipe as you describe, and and use the corner you tore off to clean under your nail.
