my first powder buy was 5744. I was after 4759 but the guy said that 5744 was basically the same thing. In my eyes, it wasn't. Next posder by was 4759 followed by an 8 Lb can of 4064. I haven't been shooting much jacketed so I still have maybe half of the 4064 but have been through many pounds of 4759, 2400.

1982. A kilo of GM3 for shotshell reloading. I cycled 15 miles to the shop and had to take a note from my dad. I still use GM3 although no longer an Italian powder, currently made in France. It works very well for cast bullet loads.

Red Dot, I was into trap shooting then. I still have an empty 15 lb keg that I use for a waste basket in the loading room.

8 pounds of IMR4895 along with an RCBS partner press, Redding powder measure, Redding scale, Redding trickler, Hornady dies, Matchking 175 grain bthp's and a 1000 box of Winchester large rifle primers. This was to feed my M1 Garand I was practicing High Power with. The load was given to me by the guy that tuned, my M1 Garand, a Mr "Hook" Boutin, former US Army High Power team armorer.

The rifle shot really well with the load he gave me, even with a well worn barrel. His advice: "We've tuned this rifle up and it shoots good, now go shoot the life out of this barrel and once that's done, We'll rebarrel it for you. You don't need a new barrel at this time. By the time you've shot this one out, you'll be ready for some other High Power gear, perhaps a different rifle. You owe me $25.00."

    His advice was perfectly accurate.
