Unique. I think I paid a dollar for the pound. Still have the can with a little in it, and occasionally load a little in 30-30. Bought the can in 1962.

PB was the first powder I used, shown on the card that came with the
Lee Loader for 12 gauge shotshells. Used Winchester Dove and Quail
Paper hulls and a claw hammer with rubber cup from the ironing board leg.

IMR 4831 here. For my first deer rifle......a 270 Win. Still have the rifle. A pretty Weatherby Vanguard VGX that shoots really great.

I suspect that it was Nobel Rifle No1.

It would have been for the .303" British under a Norma or Kynoch soft point bullet to be shot at red deer over open sights in a Parker Hale No4 conversion.

The first powder was given to me by a fellow A1C that was in EOD salvaged from .50BMG ammo. Tail guns on B52's. Gave me about 4 lbs. to reload my .30-06.
    First powder bought was Hi-Vel #2. Used it for a .458X2" (about like a .450 Marlin)in a Peruvian Mauser

For me, I believe it was IMR-4198. Circa 1970 for use in a Lee Loader for 30-30s. A neighbor's dad gave me a handful of RN GC cast lead boolits for use in my 1894 Winchester.

It was either a can of Unique or a can of GOEX 3F ...... I remember both of them being on the shelf, but I don't remember which I bought first. That was 1971.

Early 90's I bought #1 of W231 to load my first cartridge - 38 Special. I still have the can as kind of a "keepsake".

I bought a complete with mum on 7.7arisaka at a show for 75 bucks. Found a lee loader at a local shop for 15.00 and the powder was 3031 in the red tin can for 18.00. A box of hornady 312 jwords cost 15.50. Wife at that time got mad because I spent almost 130 dallors on gun stuff.

Can't quite recall whether it was H4831 or H4350 but I know it was either late 1954 or early 1955 and I was doing my first reloads (no cast boolits at that time, just that new arrival on the scene, the Nosler Partition) for my first centerfire rifle, a Remington 721 in 270 Winchester. Man, that was a long time ago and I really am older than dirt!!

HiVel #2, to reload 30/06 back in mid 50's. That was my first reloading effort, using #310 dies for my 1917 Enfield.

    WOW Cherokee,

You must be even older then this Ol'Coot!

My first powder buy was a 3LB keg of Red Dot for loading trap loads, back in about the mid 60s.
