Bullseye? What does it excel at?

Guys, I have 4 pounds of Bullsye to use up. What is this powder the best for? Is there one caliber that likes it? I've loaded 32 magnum with it, not bad. At a rate of 1 to 3 grains at a time, this jug will last forever. Split between my 9mm and the 32magnum, it's still a lot of powder.

I know it burns fast, takes up very little space and is nice and 'punchy'. Any IHMSA shooters use this? Is it a 38/357 thing?

I just don't know how to view this powder- what's it made for?

    help, help, help, eek!

    Ron

it is a little dirty but will load most hand gun rounds with lead Pb I have friends that load 45acp with it that swear by it.

I've shot many thousands of 9mm cast boolits with Bullseye. I use about 3.5 gr with a 125 gr boolit, and get 1,000 fps, no leading, no fouling, excellent accuracy, and plenty cheap at about 2,000 rounds per pound. Meters well in my Dillon 650 as well. What's not to like?

3.5 to 4 grains under a .45 185gr LSWC has been a standard target load for a very long time.

What auto/revolver pistol cartridges do you have to shoot? There will be a good load for each.

I'm shooting 41 Remington Magnum and 44 S&W Special in two Blackhawks, along with the 9mm.

I use Bullseye in 9mm for jacketed and cast, .38spcl cast, .45acp cast. It's fine for almost any small case auto. Some have used it in .45Colt, but I prefer a slower powder in the longer Colt cases.

I have been using BE for over 50 years in the 38 Special and 45 ACP rounds. Hundreds of thousand of rounds and I still use it.

It also works in .223, .308, .30-06, .458 Win Mag. I've shot thousands in each.

5.2gr behind a 200gr SWC has been my go to 45 ACP load for as long as I can remember.

2.8 gr under a 148 gr wadcutter in .38 Special makes a great paper puncher. I would bet that tons of Bullseye has been burned up in that load. I also read that Bullseye was the powder used in WWI in 45 ACP.

3 in a 38, 4 in a 45 and 4.3 in a 40. Just watch the stronger loads as bullseye probally has blown up more guns than any other powder.
