Sizing B4 makes it round if it isn't and sizing after PC will make the boolit a CONSISTANT diameter before you load it. Don't know about others but my PC thickness is not +- .0001 tolerance boolit to boolit.

to each his own on sizing before and after..
I can tell you that I only size after coating and have very accurate rifle rds in many calibers and at faster that most are getting with lubed bullets ..
no hoops to jump thru .. I cast, PC, wait 2 weeks, size and load .. YMMV

Could you please give some examples of what kind of velocity and what kind of accuracy you are getting with your rifle rounds?
    I am very interested!

It depends on the boolit. Usually I size before and after... but I do have a couple of Lymans that drop small anyway and I just coat those before size. I really appreciate discovering PC for those molds.

I suppose I could always just size afterward, but I do have some of the custom molds that drop .003 over and I figure why size back .005 afterwards when I could just run em through the Lee once and only have to size back whatever coating adds. It might be interesting to know though, how much sizing the coating will stand before it starts wrinkling or turning loose of the boolit. I would like to shoot some of my .462 MiHec Hammer HP's in my .45 Colt.
    KE4GWE - - - - - - Colt 1860, it just feels right.

    6.5 x 55 145 Grn 5/8 to 3/4" groups ..1879 FPS
300 Blkout and 308 159 HPs about the same ...Pushing 2000 FPS now and still rising.. testing different powders >. don't have a lot of time to shoot so I go up in FPS slowly with time allowed..
    308 230 Grn nearly 1 hole at 1000- 1020 FPS
    458 Socoms in 300 350 and 500 1" to 1/1/4" running from 1600 to 1800 FPS in 300 and 350Grn and 950 FPS in 500 Grn
45/70 in 300 Grn less than an inch If I remember correctly around 1700 FPS ( have not shot this one I a few months so little cloudly on velocity ,,,
Just yesterday I settled on a 30 herrett load out of a 14" contender pistol that will blow your mind
not the absolute fastest (1575 FPS) but surly accurate
I look more for accuracy instead of speed
I can figure drops at distance but once the trigger is pulled I cant steer that inaccurate bullet

I have 2 doz. or so from last year, unsized, I was going to send to a fellow, miked @ 0.313-314. They were sized 0.311 to install the GC. They size right down to 0.3095 (from my crummy digital HF caliper), no problem. I could send them to you to test bullshop (or to Larry if he wants to test). Get almost MOA @ 100 from my 16" 1:10 LR-308 using H335, Chronied @ 2450 +/- some. A31-165B
    Whatever!

PS I should have added .. that I do not use gas checks at all ( not on PB or GC bullets)
just powdercoat nose down to get a coated base..
So far all my recovered bullets show no coating gone ..
This of course could change as I got faster and then I may need to go to gas checks .. only time and shooting will tell

Bullshop If you are asking me .. here goes... I keep it real simple
all 49/49/2 alloy is coated Harbor Freight Black... Black for slower/softer rds
all 98/2 alloy is coated Harbor Freight Red .... Red for fast as fast can be loads
That way years from now a quick look at the projectile and I know the alloy ..

I did try some HF Yellow and some Powder by the pound Traffic Orange .. Both did just as good .. Yellow did not cover as deep but shot fine in 500 grn subsonic loads.. then got to thinking... all kinds of colors ... just see some mistakes coming down the road ...forgetting what bullet was what alloy..
settled on simple Black slow/soft... red fast/hard

Has there be any certain coating that seems better for rifle shooting with velocities over 2000 fps?

I should have also stated... almost all my rifle shooting is with suppressors (even the full power/sonic rds) so I am doing my best to stay away from gas checks ..
we are starting to get some days in the 80's now so I start pushing the envelope again..
Always wait till summer to push max rds.. that way I am safe in the winter as well.. the other way can be bad juju come summer

I am becoming interested but for rifle use only and for velocities of 2000 fps minimum. I don't have time to read the over 1200 posts to learn about the things you have just told me of which I am still ignorant. The harbor freight info you gave is just foreign to me because I have not until now been paying any attention to coating boolits.
I need a tutor for a crash course.

Harbor Freight PC gun Link ..can get powder there as well
    http://www.harborfreight.com/10-30-p...tem-94244.html
a compressor capable of regulating down 10 to 15 PSI output... not higher ....
you need a large toaster oven .. got mine at Walmart for about $50.00
some non stick aluminum foil and some kind of tray to put the tin foil and bullets on..
    spray, bake, size and shoot

others can chime in here .. I have to go ..
    Talk to you tomorrow
