Hello. I just found this thread because I was getting ready to cast up some 457483's. I have used this bullet, along with 457125 (512 gr.) in my original Sharps Borchardt for about 30 years. My load for the 483 is 50 gr. 4831, either original or short cut. When you hit a deer with it, it goes down. No meat loss. Accurate to 300 yds at least. I can hit my 12" 300 yd gong all day long with it off the buffalo sticks. Great bullet. You were lucky to find it.

I know posting happened a long time ago, but recently a friend of mine loaned me his 457483 mould. He wouldn't sell it to me! I just cast some up yesterday with Lyman #2 alloy. The only load I could find was 26 gr. of IMR 4198, giving me a velocity of 1350 fps. and 48 gr. of 3031, giving me a velocity of 1740 fps. Do you have other loads that will work for that bullet. Also did you ever find the bc for that bullet? I'm up here in Canada and it's winter and I've got lots of time to experiment.

    Hello Tradegunner
    on your FIRST posting
    Merry Christmas!

First, in what rifle/pistol are you intending for this load?

Action strength and barrel length are important factors

Well reading this thread has made me a happy caster......
Just won a auction the other day that had several Lyman molds in it for $105.00
I think I did fairly well getting a
    515142
    457483
    457122
    410426
    429478 and
    35872

I have recently acquired several Rolling Block rifles and the 410, 457 and 515 molds should make some good ammo.

Not yet sure what the 429 and 358 molds will be good for but I am sure someone will know...
